Fiscal Analysis

The bill would change the Sunset date for several agencies, remove some entities from Sunset review, and provide that working papers used or developed by the Sunset Commission in performing its functions are excepted from the public disclosure requirements of the Open Records Act.

The bill would require the Texas Education Agency to assist the Sunset Advisory Commission by conducting a review of the Windham School District which would include a review of the structure, management, and operations of the school district.

The Act would take effect September 1, 2003

Methodology

For the purposes of the fiscal note, it is anticipated that the Texas Education Agency (TEA) would need $200,000 to conduct or contract out for the review of the Windham School District.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
