IN RE:	HB2472 by Callegari (Relating to the issuance of Knights of Columbus license plates.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to require the Texas Department of Transportation to issue specially designed “Knights of Columbus” license plates for passenger cars and light trucks.  The bill would require applicants to submit a $30 annual fee in addition to other registration fees.  The bill would require $8 to be deposited to the credit of the State Highway Fund and $22 to be deposited to the credit of a newly created General Revenue dedicated account to be used by the Texas Education Agency for the purposes of making grants to State Council Charities. 

 

No significant fiscal implication is anticipated due to the estimated number of license plate issuances.

 

Because the legislation would create a dedicated revenue account in the General Revenue Fund, the account included in this bill would be subject to funds consolidation review by the current legislature.

 

The bill would take effect September 1, 2003.

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
