TO:
Honorable John Whitmire, Chair, Senate Committee on Criminal Justice

FROM:

IN RE:
HB2525 by Ellis (Relating to the punishment of certain assaults committed against persons who contract with government and employees of those persons.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Penal Code by enhancing the punishment for the offense of assault committed against certain employees engaged in performing duties within the scope of employment or in retaliation for or on account of the employee’s performance of a duty within the scope of employment.

It is assumed that the enhanced punishment of offenders identified by this bill would not result in a significant impact on the programs and workload of state corrections agencies or on the demand for resources and services of those agencies.
