Honorable Harold V. Dutton, Jr., Chair, House Committee on Juvenile Justice & Family Issues
FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB2652 by Brown, Fred (Relating to the responsibilities of a parent to support his or her child while enrolled in a secondary school.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would provide that the duty of a parent to support his or her child exists while the child is an unemancipated minor and continues as long as the child is fully enrolled in a accredited secondary school or an unaccredited private school in a program leading toward a high school diploma until the end of the second year in which the child graduates. The Office of the Attorney General indicates no operational impact.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
