No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would require drought contingency plans of wholesale and retail public water suppliers and irrigation districts to include quantified targets for water. The bill would also require the Commission on Environmental Quality and the Water Development Board to jointly identify target goals and develop best management practices to be used by water suppliers during periods of water shortages and drought. Any additional costs to the agencies are not expected to be significant and are expected to be absorbed within existing agency budgets.
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
Local governments already participate in drought contingency planning.
