LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 7, 2003

TO:
Honorable Ray Allen, Chair, House Committee on Corrections

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2728 by Talton (Relating to violations of certain conditions of parole or mandatory supervision; providing criminal penalties.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Penal Code by creating the offense of failure to comply with conditions of parole or mandatory supervision, which would be punishable as a state jail felony.  A person would commit the offense if the person fails certain conditions of release, or fails to report to a parole officer as required on two consecutive occasions.  It is assumed that this bill would not significantly affect the operations of state government.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
