LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 26, 2003

TO:
Honorable Kent Grusendorf, Chair, House Committee on Public Education

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2757 by Madden (Relating to contract entitlements of certain public school employees.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated, based on analyses by the Texas Education Agency.

The bill would create a distinction in Section 21.002(a), Education Code by stipulating that full-time teachers, principals, librarians, counselors, and nurses are to be hired under probationary, continuing, or term contracts.  Current law does not make a distinction between full-time and part-time employees in the affected positions.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
