HB2924 by Geren (Relating to the addition of territory to a public improvement district.), As Engrossed

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would authorize a municipality to add territory in the municipality or its extraterritorial jurisdiction to a public improvement district created by the municipality, if requested via a petition signed by a certain number of applicable property owners. The bill would also authorize a county to add territory in the county to a public improvement district created by the county if requested via a petition signed by a certain number of applicable property owners.

The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a two-thirds vote in each house; otherwise, it would take effect September 1, 2003.

Various local government associations were contacted regarding the estimated fiscal impact of the provisions of the bill.
