LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 12, 2003

TO:
Honorable Robert Talton, Chair, House Committee on Urban Affairs

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3025 by Martinez Fischer (Relating to the payment of compensable costs required for removal of an on-premise sign in a municipality.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would authorize a municipality to abate municipal property taxes that otherwise would be owed by the owner of an on-premise sign that is required to be removed. The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a two-thirds vote in each house; otherwise, it would take effect September 1, 2003.

Current statute allows a municipality to abate municipal property taxes that otherwise would be owed by the owner of an on-premise sign that is required to be relocated or reconstructed.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
