LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 21, 2003

TO:
Honorable Kenny Marchant, Chair, House Committee on State Affairs

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3032 by Laney (Relating to purchasing preferences to Texas and United States products under certain state and local purchasing procedures.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

This amends and adds language relating to purchasing preferences to Texas and United States
products under certain state and local purchasing procedures.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. Some local governmental entities near the borders of other states or countries may see increased costs because many do business with out-of-state or international vendors. The cities of Amarillo, Castle Hills, Goldthwaite, Kilgore, and Mesquite reported potential increased costs from $1,500 to $47,000 per fiscal year.  Bexar and Harris counties reported similar potential cost increases.
