LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 5, 2003

TO:
Honorable David Swinford, Chair, House Committee on Government Reform

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3038 by Cook, Robby (Relating to the elimination of the Acupuncture Board and functions of the Texas Acupuncture Association.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Occupations Code to eliminate the Acupuncture Board and delineate the functions of the Texas Acupuncture Association.   The Board of Medical Examiners would continue to issue licenses, collect fees, and perform administrative duties.  The bill would eliminate four Acupuncture board meetings with a cost savings of approximately $1,500 per board meeting.

It is assumed the agency would adjust fees to offset any loss of revenue due to the implementation of the bill.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
