TO: | Honorable Will Hartnett, Chair, House Committee on Judicial Affairs |
FROM: | John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board |
IN RE: | HB3070 by Casteel (Relating to reimbursement for expenses incurred by jurors.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted |
The bill would allow a commissioners court to set different daily reimbursements for different kinds of jurors (e.g., grand jurors v. petit jurors, jurors in district court v. jurors in JP court). The bill would take effect September 1, 2003.
Because daily reimbursement fees for jurors are paid by counties, the bill would have no fiscal impact on the state. The amount of the daily reimbursements would still have to be within a prescribed range. The fiscal impact to counties would vary depending on what juror reimbursements within statutory requirements are established by the county for each type of jury.
