LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 2, 2003

TO:
Honorable Harold V. Dutton, Jr., Chair, House Committee on Juvenile Justice & Family Issues

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3087 by Hodge (Relating to the reduction of and release from certain child support arrearages.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would authorize the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) to provide release and satisfaction of a judgment for the amount of arrearages that had been held in abeyance of enforcement. This provision would apply only in circumstances where the child support obligor met conditions set by court order in proceedings related to the abeyance of enforcement. The OAG indicates minimal operational impact.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. Local governments may incur minimal costs to develop forms and procedures to implement the bill.
