No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Sec. 261.001(1)(E) of the Family Code to remove references to specific crimes. In current law, the definition of child abuse includes sexual conduct harmful to a child's mental, emotional, or physical welfare, and specifically cites the offenses of indecency with a child, sexual assault, and aggravated sexual assault. The Department of Protective and Regulatory Services indicates no significant fiscal impact.
