LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 21, 2003

TO:
Honorable Mike Krusee, Chair, House Committee on Transportation

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3177 by Homer (Relating to bonds for motor transportation brokers.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to increase the minimum bond amount for a motor transportation broker from $10,000 to $250,000.

Based on the analysis of the Department of Transportation and the Comptroller of Public Accounts, it is assumed that it is assumed that the provisions of the bill would have no fiscal impact to the state.

The bill would take effect immediately upon receiving a two-thirds majority vote in both houses; otherwise, the bill would take effect September 1, 2003.
