LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 21, 2003

TO:
Honorable Jane Nelson, Chair, Senate Committee on Health & Human Services

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3200 by Hegar (Relating to certain standards for assisted living facilities), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Health and Safety Code Section 247.026(d) to add that if the Department of Human Services (DHS) Board does not prescribe minimum standards for assisted living facilities that serve non-geriatric residents, the board must develop procedures for consideration and approval of alternate methods of compliance by such facilities with the board's standards.

While the bill requires the board to develop procedures for consideration and approval of alternate methods of compliance by such facilities with the board's standards, DHS could not anticipate if the changes would have a fiscal impact.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
