FROM: | John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board |
IN RE: | HB3209 by Heflin (Relating to the amount of financial assistance a student may receive under the TEXAS grant and tuition equalization grant programs.), As Engrossed |
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would allow TEXAS Grant recipients who are also eligible for Tuition Equalization Grants (TEG) to receive full awards in both programs up to the amount of tuition and required fees charged to the student.
The Higher Education Coordinating Board has indicated that current requirements allow students to receive full TEXAS Grant awards and that TEG funding has been based on a formula that would not be affected by this change.
