Honorable Kenny Marchant, Chair, House Committee on State Affairs
FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB3415 by Marchant (Relating to filing requirements and to the classification of goods and services for registration of a trademark or service mark.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
This bill amends language relating to trademark registration, and authorizes the electronic filing of certain post-registration trademark documents. Changes to administrative rules, forms, and publications will be required to address the electronic filing of these documents. The Secretary of State (SOS) is currently working with developers to implement the electronic filing of certain standard form documents. The electronic filing of post-registration trademark documents can be accommodated by this system, which is currently being developed. Consequently, there are no significant fiscal implications to the SOS.
Local Government Impact
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
