Fiscal Analysis

This bill eliminates the requirement for the Secretary of State (SOS) to publish the General and Special Laws of Texas, and eliminates the duty of the SOS to distribute judicial reports and other state publications.  It also repeals the SOS's authority to receive and to sell copies of the Supreme Court Reports and the Reports of the Court of Criminal Appeals.

Methodology

The savings associated with not having to publish and distribute the General and Special Laws of Texas is $200,000 a biennium.

There would be no significant revenue loss associated with the sale of the Supreme Court Reports and the Reports of the Court of Criminal Appeals.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
