Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 27, 2003

TO:
Honorable Joe Driver, Chair, House Committee on Law Enforcement

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3473 by Castro (Relating to the impoundment of a motor vehicle involved in an offense relating to the operating of a motor vehicle while intoxicated.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure as it relates to the impoundment of a motor vehicle involved in an offense for the operation of a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.  Local governmental entities would incur some initial costs to have vehicles towed and stored, but the costs should be offset by towing and storage fees paid by the owners of impounded vehicles.
