LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 18, 2003

TO:
Honorable Kent Grusendorf, Chair, House Committee on Public Education

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HJR34 by Mowery (Proposing a constitutional amendment relating to the structure, powers, and duties of the State Board of Education.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated, other than the cost of publication.

The cost to the state for publication of the resolution is $85,275.

This resolution would increase membership of the State Board of Education from 15 to 32 elected members.  This increase is likely to result in increased Board travel expenses, but these costs are not expected to be significant as a percentage of the agency's overall administrative budget.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
