No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would authorize but not require a school district to provide a mentoring services program to students.The bill would require a district mentoring program to meet standards adopted by the Governor.Districts would be required to obtain the consent of a student’s parent or guardian before allowing the student to participate in the program.Districts would be authorized to arrange for any public or private community-based organization to come to the district’s schools and implement the program.The bill would authorize the use of funds earned under the compensatory education allotment for a district’s mentoring program.
