LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 5, 2003

TO:
Honorable David Dewhurst, Lieutenant Governor, Senate

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB40 by Zaffirini (Relating to an immunization education program established by the Texas Department of Health.), As Passed 2nd House

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the Department of Health (TDH) to establish a continuous statewide education program.  The bill would also require TDH to increase coordination among public and private entities that have an interest in immunizations.  TDH indicates that the agency will continue to receive federal funds to operate the program.  Therefore, TDH believes that any additional cost associated with implementing the provisions of the bill would be absorbed within the agency's current resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
