LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 5, 2003

TO:
Honorable Troy Fraser, Chair, Senate Committee on Business & Commerce

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB78 by Zaffirini (Relating to disbursements and expenditures for certain child-care activities funded under the federal Child Care and Development Block Grant.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) estimates that for every one percent increase in quality expenditures for the child care program, approximately 1,300 direct care slots would be eliminated.

It is assumed that duties and responsibilities associated with implementing provisions of the bill could be accomplished by TWC utilizing existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
