SB80 by Zaffirini (Relating to the punishment for the offense of reckless discharge of a firearm in certain municipalities.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Section 42, Penal Code, to change the offense level for the reckless discharge of a firearm in a municipality with a population of 100,000 or more from a Class A misdemeanor to a State Jail felony. The bill would take effect September 1, 2003 and would apply only to an offense committed on or after the effective date.

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
