LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

January 29, 2003

TO:
Honorable Frank Madla, Chair, Senate Committee on Intergovernmental Relations

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB119 by Lindsay (Relating to the appointment of the governing body of certain metropolitan rapid transit authorities.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.

The bill would amend Chapter 451, Transportation Code, to increase from five to nine the number of members composing the governing board or the metropolitan rapid transit authority in which the principal municipality has a population greater than 1.2 million. At this time, only the City of Houston has a population greater than 1.2 million.
