The bill would continue the Board of Architectural Examiners for another 12 years. The bill would improve the Board's enforcement program by expanding its authority, conform key elements of the Board's licensing and regulatory functions to commonly applied licensing agency practices and require the Board to form a joint practice committee with the Board of Professional Engineers.
The bill would also increase the maximum administrative penalty charged by the Board from $1,000 to $5,000.
The bill would take effect on September 1, 2003.
Increasing the maximum administrative penalty the agency can charge would generate an estimated $87,680 in General Revenue based on historical experience.
It is estimated the agency could implement the other provisions of the bill within current resources and would adjust fees to offset any increase or decrease in fee revenue.
