IN RE: | SB359 by Shapiro (Relating to a local option election for the sale of beer and wine in certain cities or towns located in more than one county.), As Introduced |
The bill would amend Section 251.18(a), Alcoholic Beverage Code, to modify the parameters for which cities or towns could hold a local option election for the sale of beer and wine. The change would apply to an incorporated city or town that does not permit beer and wine sales in even a portion of the city or town as of September 1, 2003 and that is located in two counties, each having a population between 400,000 and one million. Under current statute, the lower limit is 250,000. The bill would take effect September 1, 2003.
Only the counties of Denton and Collin fit the adjusted population limits, and contain common cities.
