No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill relates to certain reports required to be filed in connection with certain diseases or other public health conditions.  The bill amends Sec 81.042(e) of the Health and Safety Code, which would state that persons reporting to a local health authority would report a case of a reportable disease and all information known concerning persons who have or is suspected of having the disease.  The bill also amends the Occupations Code by adding Section 562.055, which would state that a pharmacist shall report to the Texas Department of Health any unusual or increased prescription rates, unusual types of prescriptions, and many other issues that might pose a substantial risk of human fatalities.

 

This bill would take effect September 1, 2003.
