Honorable Glenn Lewis, Chair, House Committee on County Affairs
FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
SB411 by Zaffirini (Relating to the salaries and longevity pay of sheriff department personnel in certain counties.), As Engrossed
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would authorize a county with a population of more than 7,500 that is located on the Texas– Mexico border and that contains no incorporated territory of a municipality to classify all positions in its sheriff's department; act on a petition to increase the minimum salary of each member of the sheriff's department; and establish longevity pay for each commissioned deputy of the sheriff's department. The bill would take effect September 1, 2003.
Local Government Impact
Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
