LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

February 18, 2003

TO:
Honorable Kenneth Armbrister, Chair, Senate Committee on Natural Resources

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB440 by Lindsay (Relating to purchasing procedures for certain regional water authorities.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Section 49.280, Water Code, to require a regional water authority in a county with a population of 3.4 million or more to follow the purchasing procedures provided for a county under Chapters 262 and 271, Local Government Code, and other law. The bill would take effect September 1, 2003.

Only Harris County has a population of more than 3.4 million.

Local Government Impact

Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
