Honorable John Whitmire, Chair, Senate Committee on Criminal Justice
FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
SB443 by Wentworth (Relating to access to criminal history record information concerning volunteers with certain programs providing activities to children.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would allow activity providers for non-profit programs with participants under age 17 to obtain criminal history information on persons who are volunteers for these programs. The Department of Public Safety estimates that they would collect a $1 fee per request for criminal history information using the agency's automated internet website which would be offset by costs to manage the increased use of the website.
Local Government Impact
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
