No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Article 35.16(a) of the Code of Criminal Procedure relating to challenges for cause. The bill would also amend Article 19.08 of the Code of Criminal Procedure and Section 62.102 of the Government Code, to disqualify persons from service as a grand jury and petit juror, respectively, if the person has been convicted of misdemeanor theft or under indictment or other legal accusation for misdemeanor theft or a felony.
