LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 4, 2003

TO:
Honorable Jaime Capelo, Chair, House Committee on Public Health

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB616 by Madla (Relating to the composition of the Drug Demand Reduction Advisory Committee.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would add four additional agencies, Texas Rehabilitation Commission, Texas Workforce Commission, Texas Department of Transportation, and the Comptroller of Public Accounts, to the 20 that currently compose the Advisory Committee on Reducing Drug Demand.

The Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse (TCADA) provides administrative support to the committee. The agency can also reimburse members for travel and related expenses provided that the General Appropriations Act specifically authorizes the agency to do so. It is anticipated that these new responsibilities could be absorbed within TCADA's current appropriation and FTE levels.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
