No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. 

The bill would amend Sections 34.007(b) and 42.155(k) of the Education Code by adding a provision to authorize a school district to allow parents to designate a grandparent’s residence instead of the child’s residence as the regular location for transportation to and from the child’s school.  Because of its discretionary nature and the additional uncertainty regarding transportation route service eligibility, the fiscal impact of its implementation cannot be accurately anticipated.  However, the fiscal impact on the Foundation School Program is estimated to be minimal. 

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.  Local school district costs are likely to be minimal and could be avoided by choosing not to adopt a policy authorizing the designation of an alternative location for transportation.
