LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 31, 2003

TO:
Honorable John Whitmire, Chair, Senate Committee on Criminal Justice

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB628 by Wentworth (Relating to the time allowed for execution of a search warrant issued to obtain a specimen for DNA analysis.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure as it relates to the time allowed for execution of a search warrant issued to obtain a specimen for DNA analysis.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.  Local law enforcement entities and courts would see minimal savings from not needing to reissue a search warrant if a specific suspect or crime site cannot be identified or located.
