Honorable Florence Shapiro, Chair, Senate Committee on Education
FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
SB700 by Ogden (Relating to participation by private school students in University Interscholastic League sponsored activities.), As Introduced
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would prohibit the University Interscholastic League (UIL) from denying a private school or its students the opportunity to participate in an activity sponsored by the UIL or the opportunity to become a member of an appropriate UIL district. It is assumed that any additional administrative cost as a result of private school participation would be covered by increased membership fee revenue.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. UIL may have to charge school districts a higher UIL membership fee if additional private school members do not generate enough revenue to cover the possible administrative costs of the bill.
