LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 25, 2003

TO:
Honorable Leticia Van de Putte, Chair, Senate Committee on Veteran Affairs & Military Installations

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB720 by Madla (Relating to the sale by defense base authorities of property located in an enterprise zone.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would exempt a defense base authority from requirements of posting notice that are otherwise applicable to the sale or exchange of land by a political subdivision if the defense base authority's property interest is located in an enterprise zone. The bill would take effect immediately if it were to receive two-thirds vote in each house; otherwise, it would take effect September 1, 2003.

Exemption from posting notice of the intent to sell or exchange land owned by the defense base authority would result in a small savings of the cost of publication.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
