No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would allow an individual who holds an elected or appointed local government office to be appointed to the governing body of a state agency if the person meets eligibility requirements. The person would not be allowed to receive compensation, but would be eligible to be reimbursed for reasonable and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of official functions of the governing body of the state agency.

The bill would take effect immediately if it receives two-thirds vote in each house; otherwise, it would take effect September 1, 2003.

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
