LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 5, 2003

TO:
Honorable Rick Hardcastle, Chair, House Committee on Agriculture & Livestock

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB759 by Brimer (Relating to certain pesticide application by persons engaged in pest control work for a political subdivision.), Committee Report 2nd House, Substituted

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would authorize a political subdivision to reduce the number of hours of training or other requirements for an employee using certain biological pesticides for larval mosquito control on property owned or controlled by the political subdivision, provided the employee is given instructions that are adequate to ensure the safe and effective use of the pesticides.

The bill would take effect June 1, 2003 if it receives a two-thirds vote in each house; otherwise, it would take effect September 1, 2003.

If a political subdivision were to reduce the number of hours of training, the subdivision could experience an insignificant savings in training costs.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
