LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 18, 2003

TO:
Honorable Jaime Capelo, Chair, House Committee on Public Health

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB769 by Carona (Relating to the licensing and regulation of surgical assistants.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Occupations Code regarding licensing and regulation of surgical assistants.  There would be a slightly impact the revenue stream in fiscal years 2004 and 2005 because the bill would establish a biennial licensing renewal date for surgical assistants effective September 1, 2003.

Due to staggered licensing, there would be a slight drop in renewals for surgical assistants in fiscal year 2005, resulting in a revenue decrease of approximately $4,000 from fiscal year 2004.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
