SB864 by Van de Putte (Relating to the promotion of breast-feeding.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

This bill would amend Chapter 165 of the Health and Safety Code to authorize a physician licensed to practice in this state to use the designation "breast-feeding friendly" in promotional materials if the physician develops a policy supporting breast-feeding and submits that policy to the Texas Department of Health (TDH).  The bill would require TDH to maintain a list of such physicians and to make the list available to the public. 

 

This bill would take effect September 1, 2003.

 

TDH indicated that the duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing staff.

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
