LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 1, 2003

TO:
Honorable Kent Grusendorf, Chair, House Committee on Public Education

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB900 by Shapiro (Relating to computation and reporting of the ratios of a school district's expenditures and personnel relating to direct student instruction.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The net cost implications for the operations of the Texas Education Agency would be neutral since staff resources are presently used to calculate, notify, and publish district level administrative cost ratios under current law that would be repealed by this bill.

Local Government Impact

The requirement for districts to at least annually provide a list of employees to be engaged only in providing classroom instruction to students is not expected to add significant cost to district operations.
