No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would allow a surviving spouse of certain officers and employees of political subdivisions to purchase insurance coverage under the group policy of the political subdivision by which the deceased was employed. The bill is intended to clarify existing law and would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds in each house; otherwise, it would take effect September 1, 2003.
