LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 19, 2003

TO:
Honorable Robert Duncan, Chair, Senate Committee on Jurisprudence

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB979 by Wentworth (Relating to the composition of the 274th Judicial District and the jurisdiction of the 207th and 274th districts courts.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would remove Caldwell County from the 274th Judicial District and redistribute cases in Caldwell County that are pending as of the effective date of the bill to the 22nd and 107th district courts. Processes, writs, bonds, recognizances, or other obligations associated with the transferred cases would be returnable to the courts to which the cases were re-assigned. The bill would take effect September 1, 2003.

Local Government Impact

Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
