Currently, there are 1,113 Department of Public Safety officers who would qualify for supplemental pay based upon holding a degree and/or having obtained a sufficient number of credit hours equivalent to a degree. Multiplying the 1,113 officers by the $100 per month and by 12 months per year equals $1,335,600 per year. Estimated benefits total $186,984 for total costs of $1,522,584 per year.
