Honorable Bill Ratliff, Chair, Senate Committee on State Affairs
FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
SB1098 by Carona (Relating to the liability of certain physicians for examinations and medical screenings of students.), As Introduced
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would limit the liability of a physician who, without the compensation or expectation of compensation, conducts a physcial examination or medical screening for the purposes of certifying the patient's eligibility to particiapte in school-sponsored extracurricular or sporting activity. The physician would be required to have sufficient insurance coverage to be covered by the bill. Since the bill does not limit the liability of a school district to its students, teachers, or staff or apply to a governmental unit, there would be no fiscal impact to the state.
Local Government Impact
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
