No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated, based upon analyses by the Texas Education Agency.
The bill would allow job sharing and other part-time work schedules for school district educators under specific conditions. Educators working under part-time schedules would be entitled to a prorated salary schedule and certain benefits.To be entitled to these benefits, an educator must work at least 50 percent of the hours required of a full-time employee and must teach or have other direct contact with students for 70 percent of the total hours worked.Also, each individual request for such employment must be approved by the district site-based committee.
