Honorable Royce West, Chair, Senate Committee on Subcommittee on Higher Education
FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
SB1162 by Barrientos (Relating to the accountability of administrators in institutions of higher education.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would impose restrictions on the compensation increases of all high-ranking administrators at all Texas public institutions of higher education. It would also require annual, detailed reporting of compensation of each individual holding such a position to the Legislative Budget Board. The higher education system offices reporting and the Coordinating Board report no fiscal impact, with the exception of The University of Texas System, which reports compiling the required information and reporting it would cost $8,000 each year.
Local Government Impact
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
