FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 23, 2003

TO:
Honorable Robert Duncan, Chair, Senate Committee on Jurisprudence

FROM:

IN RE:
SB1180 by West (Relating to an index of court costs and fees in civil proceedings, court costs on conviction, and other court-related fees and costs.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code to provide a consolidated listing of court costs and fees. The costs and fees are the same as those listed in other codes and would simply be indexed in the Government Code. The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a two-thirds vote in each house; otherwise, it would take effect September 1, 2003.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
